We know: You love your Feelgrounds! You've let us know through your incredibly positive feedback over the past two years. But every now and then, we'd also receive a message saying: "If only my Feelgrounds were a bit wider, they'd be perfect for me."
Since Feelgrounds started, we've been wearing our barefoot shoes daily too. And we noticed that our feet have continued to spread into their natural width over the past two years. Until we realized that we also needed a bit more room for our Feelgrounds to feel perfect again.
With our sole update, we're thrilled to finally fulfill your wishes – and as a team, we feel it's the right move too.
As you might know, it's a massive investment for a shoe company to change their soles, since sneaker soles are typically made using molds. Creating new molds (one for each shoe size) is pretty expensive. So while we were at it, we also improved a few other details on the sole (more on that below).
We're really happy with how the updated models turned out and now love wearing our new Feelgrounds even more than before. We hope you'll feel the same way.
Below you'll find everything you need to know about our updated models, plus some photos showing that the new Feelgrounds look just as good as their predecessors.
Which models have we updated?
That means: all our sneaker models have been updated since they share the same sole. They're available in exactly the same colors as their predecessors. There will be no price increase.
What did we change?
- slightly wider and more naturally shaped toe box for even more toe freedom
- slightly raised sole sidewalls for an even more "sneaker" look (the actual sole thickness of 5 mm stays the same)
- improved sole tread pattern
- now also available in size EU 35
What are the benefits of the new models?
- If the previous Feelgrounds models fit you well, your toes will have even more room to spread naturally in the new models.
- If the previous models were a bit too narrow for you, the new models likely have just the right fit for you.
- The updated sole shape is less "sloped" (meaning more room for the little toes). The sole now fits even more foot shapes than before (e.g. slope, mountain, plateau).
- The improved tread now features larger, staggered dots, providing even more durability and longevity for the sole.
- The sole shape of the updated models is now identical to our winter shoe Patrol. So you can finally wear the new models with our removable insoles too. This is perfect for narrow feet or feet with a low instep, for example.
- Visually, the width change is barely noticeable, meaning your Feelgrounds still look absolutely stylish.
Sizing
- The updated models are about 3 mm longer per size than their predecessors. Generally, this doesn't mean a change in your Feelgrounds size, meaning most customers will have the same size as with the previous models.
- Customers who previously had to size up in Feelgrounds due to width, or customers who were between two Feelgrounds sizes, should now consider going with the smaller size.
- The extra room might feel a bit strange or unfamiliar at first, but we're speaking from experience: after wearing the new models for a while, we wouldn't want to go back.
