Patrol Winter Kids: how to shorten your elastic laces

We're excited to announce that our popular waterproof and snow-ready unisex Patrol barefoot winter boots are now available for kids too. They feature the same beloved qualities as our Patrol Winter for adults plus some kid-friendly extras like a finger loop and elastic laces for easy on and off.

With their flexible, thin Zero Drop sole and foot-shaped toe box, the Patrol Winter Kids tick all the boxes for a proper barefoot shoe. Thanks to the gusseted tongue, waterproof membrane, grippy outsole, insulated lining, and bonus felt insole, they're the perfect barefoot winter boots for kids.

To accommodate different foot volumes, we decided to keep the elastic laces on our Patrol Winter Kids on the longer side. If your kid has a low to medium foot volume and the standard laces are too long, we've included two end clips with every pair of Patrol Winter Kids boots. This way, you can shorten the laces for a custom fit and hide the cut ends with the included clips. Here's how to do it.

Before you start, decide on the length you want. It's best to do this while your kid is trying on the boots. Make sure to leave enough length so the laces can still be loosened enough for easy on and off.

  1. Cut the laces with scissors.
  2. Insert the cut ends into the end clip as shown.
  3. Fold the smaller part of the clip over the cut ends and press until it clicks into place.
  4. Done! When the boots are on, tuck the end clips under the bottom lace loops.
